19/01/2010 - FDFC Youth // Fulham Disability Centre of Excellence - Youth

Fulham FC Foundation worked in partnership with Surrey FA to select the best of disability youth players in Surrey.

Head Coach Roanna Simmons took 8 boys of varies disability to Norwich to play against other counties in the south in a 7-a-side disability football tournament.

The first match against Middlesex had an early goal by Fulham youth within a minute; Middlesex fought back with a 3 goal lead to our 1 goal. We then equalised with few seconds spare. A well deserve draw on both team! Results: 3-3 (Draw)

Knowing we have a tougher team to play next was Norwich FC, a very physical game for both teams. With Simon Eyers and Harry Carter raising the bar on their defending work, they fought for every ball by tackling, heading, interception and providing the much needed drive to the team. Results: 3-0 (Lost)

Final match against Kent FA; A talent left footer Ross Ward showed the opposition his speed and dribbling skills that left the opposition in his wake. Vice Captain Goalkeeper Tommy Hobson made several fantastic saves. Result: 3-0 (Lost)

Roanna Simmons says that the boys showed immensely desire to win every match which proved to be vital in their own football development in the future. And look forward to the next tournament on 31st January in Surrey.
